About
Hi there, I'm Ninglu [โธ ning-lu].

I'm an illustration artist from Winnipeg, Canada, and currently in my final year of medical school at the University of Manitoba. Prior to entering medicine, I received my Bachelor of Health Sciences degree from McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada.

Creating visual art has long been a passion of mine. As a child, I would spend countless hours drawing my own picture books, fantasy figures, floral scenaries, and Japanese-inspired cartoon characters. My interests in depicting human portraits, natural objects, and surrealist dreamscapes persist to this day. Art is a hobby I continually seek to help materialize my imagination, detail my observations, and beautify existent elements of reality. My illustration experience over the years spans across both traditional pencil-to-paper and digital tablet mediums.
Although I identify this site as mainly my "arts" portfolio, I view my practice of the arts as deeply interwined with my other interests in the sciences and humanities. In this lifelong journey to learn more about the world, I view philosophy as an important instigator/principled framework for my questioning; science as the methodical/probabilistic means of exploring such questions; and art as the intuitive/emotional means. Each discipline involves transferrable elements of curiosity, awe, observation, and analysis. I owe much of my artistic taste/influence to my studies in human anatomy and physiology, the natural sciences, aesthetics, psychedelia, and literary science fiction.

Aside from visual art and medicine, I love long-distance running; going to live music events; trying new foods; exploring cities by foot; sipping on matcha lattes; and reading.
